Given current organizational and financial constraints, the 24th edition of the ETNOFILM International Film Festival will take place primarily online. Public screenings of selected films will also be held in Čadca.
The ETNOFILM International Film Festival will take place from November 23 to 27, 2026. Its 24th edition will offer audiences the opportunity to watch selected competition documentaries online via the website www.etnofilm.sk.
Due to the festival's current organizational and financial circumstances, we are proceeding with a modified format for this edition. The festival project was submitted in response to a call for proposals from the Slovak Audiovisual Fund. Although an expert committee recommended it for funding, the necessary financial resources were ultimately not allocated. Consequently, we have adjusted the festival's format to ensure the continuity of the event, preserve its international character, and maintain public access to high-quality documentary filmmaking.
In addition to online screenings, ETNOFILM remains an integral part of the cultural life of Čadca. Public screenings of selected films will take place at the House of Culture in Čadca, allowing audiences to experience the festival atmosphere firsthand in the cinema hall. Screenings will also be organized in collaboration with partner universities.
The festival's competition component remains intact. Films will be evaluated by an international jury, which—given the modified format—will conduct its work online. The jury for the 24th edition of ETNOFILM consists of:

The international jury will present the festival awards, which remain a significant part of the event.
Even in its modified format, the main mission of ETNOFILM remains to showcase documentary films that capture the cultures, traditions, ways of life, and stories of people from around the world.
