Due to the current organisational and financial circumstances, the 24th edition of the ETNOFILM International Documentary Film Festival will take place mainly online. Public screenings of selected films will also be held in Čadca.
The ETNOFILM International Documentary Film Festival will take place from 23 to 27 November 2026. The 24th edition of the festival will offer viewers the opportunity to watch selected competition documentary films online via the website www.etnofilm.sk.
Due to the current organisational and financial circumstances of the festival, this edition will be realised in an adapted format. The festival project was submitted to a call for proposals of the Audiovisual Fund. In its evaluation, the expert committee recommended the project for support; however, financial resources for its implementation were not allocated. For this reason, we have adapted the festival format in order to preserve its continuity, international character and accessibility of high-quality documentary filmmaking for the public.
In addition to online screenings, ETNOFILM will continue to be part of the cultural life of the city of Čadca. Public screenings of selected films will take place at the House of Culture in Čadca, where audiences will have the opportunity to experience the festival atmosphere directly in the cinema hall. The screenings will also be organised in cooperation with partner universities.
The competition section of the festival remains an integral part of the event. The films will be evaluated by an international jury, which will work online due to the adapted format. The jury of the 24th ETNOFILM International Documentary Film Festival consists of:

The international jury will present festival awards, which remain an important and integral part of ETNOFILM.
Even in its adapted format, the main mission of ETNOFILM remains to present documentary films capturing culture, traditions, ways of life and human stories from different countries around the world.
