Today, the customs associated with the Catholic holidays of All Saints and All Souls are celebrated in the region around the town of Novi Marof in northwestern Croatia almost as much as anywhere else. However, some traditional customs that existed in the 60s of the 20th century, or even earlier, such as the production of homemade wreaths from crepe paper flowers, a festive lunch or the custom of meeting and social gatherings still remain in the living memory of the older residents. young people at the cemetery in the evening. Particularly interesting was the custom of leaving food and drinks on the holiday table overnight, from November 1st to November 2nd, for the souls of the deceased who, according to traditional belief, will return to their old homes that night.
