Slovaks from Budapest decided to follow the footsteps of Slovak rafters. In the Orava village of Nižná, they commemorated the ancestors of the local residents, the rafters. Before the regulation of the Váh river, rafters sailed all the way to the Black Sea and transported wood and other goods on rafts they made themselves. Many sailed to Budapest, where so-called "factors" organized the sale of goods. At that time, entire groups of masons arrived, who, hired by renowned architects, built beautiful palaces and also the parliament.
